Annual General Meeting -
The Annual General Meeting of the Icelandic Airline Pilots Association will be held at Grand Hótel, 28. February, 2019, from 20:00-23:00.
This year, FÍA members will elect a Vice-President and three Members of the Board. Those who wish to announce their candidacy must do so via email to FÍA's general manager at lara@fia.is before 7. February, 2019. The general manager gathers the candidacies on behalf of the board, and forwards them to the board and the electoral commission.
Given the current combination of FÍA's Board, the three seats now up for election can not go to Icelandair pilots, according to Article 16 of FÍA's Bylaws. If a new Vice-President were to be elected, who does not work for Icelandair, then one of the three seats on the Board can go to Icelandair.
Candidates will have the opportunity to introduce themselves in FÍA's newsletter, which will be published before the Annual General Meeting.

Eagle Air's new Dornier 328
Eagle Air (IS Flugfélagið Ernir) welcomed a new addition to its fleet this December when it began operating a Dornier 328. The airplaine can transport 32 passangers as well as a crew of three, and it will be utilized in Eagle Air's regular routes as well as for specific assignments both in Iceland and abroad.
"We hope that the added number of seats will prove more economical for certain routes, and we will have a better opportunity to lower our prices. Of course this is all subject to wages and circumstances in our tiny market," says Hörður Guðmundsson, Eagle Air CEO. The Dornier comes as an addition to the Eagle Air's four 19 passenger Jetstream 31/32 airplanes.
Eagle Air is the oldest airline in operation in Iceland, still under the management of its original founders in 1970. Ernir flies regularly to five destinations throughout the country, as well as Reykjavík: Vestmannaeyjar, Höfn in Hornafjörður, Húsavík, Gjögur and Bíldudalur.

General meeting resolution
FÍA held a General Meeting in Grjótnes, 25. January 2018, where the following Resolution regarding the Icelandic National Guard was approved:
FÍA is distressed over the Government's budgetary plans regarding the Icelandic Coast Guard, as it does not secure the operational basis for the institution.
Members of the meeting challenge the parliament to review the Coast Guard's budget and to ensure that it will have the necessary funds to fulfill its statutory role, to maintain equipment, and to ensure the adequate number of crew members for each shift.
Furthermore, members of the meeting encourage that new helicopters, that are suitable for the Coast Guard's role in search and rescue, will be purchased as soon as possible.
Resolution proposed by; Högni B. Ómarsson
Supported by; Reynir Einarsson og Jón Þór Þorvaldsson.
The Resolution was approved unanimously.

#METOO
Undanfarið hafa stórir hópar kvenna úr ýmsum starfsstéttum komið fram undir merkjum átaksins #metoo. Meðal þeirra eru íslenskar flugfreyjur.
Af þessu tilefni vill Félag íslenskra atvinnuflugmanna FÍA lýsa yfir stuðningi við átakið og taka undir með þeim fjölmörgu samstarfskonum okkar flugmanna sem fordæma hverskyns kynferðislega áreitni.
Gagnkvæm virðing og traust þarf vera í samskiptum áhafna um borð í flugvélum. Það stuðlar að vellíðan áhafnarmeðlima og eykur flugöryggi.
Stuðningsyfirlýsing
Félag íslenskra atvinnuflugmanna FÍA lýsir yfir stuðningi við Flugvirkjafélag Íslands í baráttu þeirra vegna endurnýjunar kjarasamnings félagsins við Icelandair.
Verkföll eru ávallt neyðaraðgerð þegar samningsumleitanir hafa ekki skilað árangri.
FÍA skorar á samningsaðila að leita allra leiða til að finna samningsgrundvöll svo að verkfalli geti lokið.
