The Icelandic Airline Pilots’ Association (FÍA) is the oldest and largest trade union of pilots in Iceland. It is a free and open association, with over seven decades of experience in protecting the safety and interests of professional pilots. Members in FÍA are now approaching 900 and counting, growing alongside the expanding flight industry in Iceland. FÍA is the only pilots‘ union in Iceland that is a member of the European Cockpit Association and the International Federation of Air Line Pilots‘ Associations.
FÍA is an active union with a great number of people working on protecting the interests of pilots. The Board, the Security Committee and other Standing Committees, employees and shop stewards, all assist pilots in a variety of ways and in different areas, thus providing pilots with the support that they need.
The purpose of the Association is to negotiate wages and terms on behalf of its members, to work on aviation safety issues, to protect the professional rights and interests of its members, and to provide support to members in the event of illness, according to the bylaws of the Sickness Fund.
